This special edition of EMME/2 NEWS contains a first preview of the major new developments that will be included in the next general software release - EMME/2 Release 3.0.
An alpha-test version of release 3.0 is currently being tested. Beta test versions will go out to selected user sites as early as November. The official release, which will be distributed to all sites that are covered by a software support agreement, is scheduled for early 1988.
This issue has been prepared specially for the participants of the Second Annual EMME/2 Users' Conference that will take place in Portland, OR, on October 19/20. The material presented here corresponds to the current state of the developments. Since release 3.0 is still in its alpha test phase, changes in details of the implementation are still likely to occur until the official release is announced. The contents of this newsletter, updated where necessary, will form the core of the next regular issue of EMME/2 NEWS, which is scheduled for January 1987.
